Jouman’s approach to law is rooted in her trauma-informed practice, ensuring that clients not only receive expert legal representation but also feel safe, heard, and supported throughout the legal process. She understands the emotional and psychological toll the legal system can take, especially for those who have experienced gender-based violence and trauma, and she prioritizes building trust and rapport with her clients from the outset.
Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, Jouman provides legal services in all three languages, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of clients.
Since 2022, she has been co-chairing the Family Separation Working Group of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers, a litigation and advocacy group challenging unacceptable processing delays for reuniting minor children with their refugee parents.
As the co-founder of the Alberta chapter of the Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association, Jouman has been recognized as a voice of leadership in the Muslim community. She has been invited as a delegate to advocate on behalf of issues affecting Muslim communities’ rights in Alberta with various government stakeholders and organizations, including the Alberta legislature.
In December 2023, Jouman joined the ‘International Center of Justice for Palestinians’ – ICJP Canada as a staff member. ICJP is an independent organization of lawyers, academics and politicians who work to promote and protect the rights of Palestinians globally. In addition, she is currently working with the Legal Center for Palestine on litigations involving Canadian family members of the victims of the genocide in Gaza
